The Department of Meteorology warns that heavy rainfall could affect several parts of the island over the next 36 hours.Rainfall exceeding 100 millimetres is possible in some areas of the Western, Sabaragamuwa, North Western and Northern provinces, as well as the Anuradhapura District.The Department has urged the public to take necessary precautions to minimise the risk of accidents caused by temporary strong winds and lightning that may accompany thundershowers.
