The Department of Irrigation has issued a warning that minor flooding may occur in several low-lying areas of the Kalu Ganga basin within the next 24 hours, due to significant rainfall currently being received in its catchment areas.The latest flood alert, issued today (26th) at 11:30 AM, remains valid until 11:30 AM tomorrow (27th). The areas identified as at risk for minor flooding include:Ratnapura District: Pelmadulla, Nivitigala, Ratnapura, Kuruwita, Ayagama, and ElapathaKalutara District: Ingiriya, Horana, Dodangoda, Millaniya, Bulathsinhala, Madurawala, and PalindanuwaraThe Irrigation Department and the Disaster Management Centre request residents in these areas and motorists travelling through them to remain highly vigilant and take all necessary safety precautions.
