Two youths who fled after ignoring a police signal at the Mahakade Junction in Kadawatha did so because the driver did not possess a valid driving licence, investigations have revealed.A senior police official of the area stated that two special police teams have been deployed to conduct an inquiry into the incident.Sources at the Ragama Hospital reported that the condition of the youth injured in yesterday's shooting remains critical.The incident unfolded yesterday afternoon when officers deployed on special traffic duty signaled a three-wheeler to stop at the Mahakade Junction.According to Police Media Spokesperson Assistant Superintendent of Police F. U. Wootler, the three-wheeler disregarded the police order and drove off, prompting officers to pursue the vehicle and open fire.The shooting left a 16-year-old youth traveling in the three-wheeler injured, while another 17-year-old was taken into police custody.
