The National Building Research Institute (NBRI) says air quality in several parts of Sri Lanka has declined, with Jaffna, Mannar, Vavuniya, Kandy, Kegalle, Badulla, Ratnapura, Nuwara Eliya, Embilipitiya, Puttalam and Mullaitivu among the affected areas. The Dambulla area has also recorded reduced air quality, with certain locations experiencing slightly unhealthy conditions.According to the NBRO's daily report issued today (30), the Sri Lanka Air Quality Index (SL AQI) is expected to range between 88 and 120 over the next 24 hours, while most urban areas are likely to maintain moderate air quality. The report also indicates that peak Air Quality Index (AQI) levels are likely between 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m., and again between 4:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.
