The mandatory requirement to present the Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) Certificate for 8 specified types of transactions prescribed by the Inland Revenue Department was postponed until 01st of April 2027.The Inland Revenue Department issued a notice stating that this step was taken with the approval of the Ministry of Finance.Steps were taken to make the TIN certificate mandatory for these transactions with effect from 01st of November 2026, pursuant to Section 103(6) of the Inland Revenue Act No. 24 of 2017 as amended by the Inland Revenue (Amendment) Act No. 11 of 2026.However, since a very high demand for obtaining the TIN certificate is currently observed from individuals engaged in those transactions as well as from other parties, the decision to postpone was taken to avoid inconvenience to the public.
