The Department of Meteorology forecasts showers or thundershowers can occur at times today in the Southern and Uva provinces and in the Ratnapura and Ampara districts. It stated that showers or thundershowers may also occur at several places in the rest of the island after 1:00 PM.Fairly heavy showers above 75 millimetres can occur at some places.The public is requested by the department to take necessary measures to minimise hazards caused by temporary strong winds and lightning that may accompany thundershowers.Misty conditions can prevail at some places in the Sabaragamuwa, Central, and Uva provinces during the early morning.
